Family wins clinical negligence claim over MMR jab

A family has won compensation for their son who was negatively affected by the MMR jab, opening the doors to other families who have been affected.

The young man, now 18, was given the measles, mumps and rubella immunisation when he was 13 months old. Just ten days later he had a seizure that left him permanently brain damaged. He has been unable to stand, talk or feed himself ever since and needs round-the-clock care.

His mother sought compensation for his injuries from the government but had her initial claim rejected.

However, she continued to fight her case with the Department of Health and has now finally won a payout for the health problems caused by the jab, after a medical panel ruled that the seizure was caused by the MMR.

The panel claimed, “The seizure occurred ten days after the vaccination. In our view, this cannot be put down to coincidence.”

The landmark ruling is expected to open the way for many other families to claim compensation on behalf of their children who they insist have been negatively affected by the jab.
